Paros Island Holidays
Paros is situated in the centre of the Cyclades, located between the islands of Sifnos and Naxos, and is the ideal for enjoyable holidays in Greece. The island is one with a history stretching back over 6000 years, making Paros a very interesting and rewarding place to visit.
The island was very famous for it's marble quarries and the unique fine white marble that what produced here. The statues of "Afrodite of Milos", the "Hermes of Praxitelis" and many other beautiful pieces of art where made from this exceptional marble.
The capital and harbour of Paros is Parikia, and it's beautiful windmill welcomes all visitors who arrive by sea. The pure white houses with the blue windows stand out and offer a very tranquil appearance to visitors. Though a highly populated city, Parikia has a true feel of peace and tranquility about it.
The most significant monument of Parikia is the church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, which was built by the Byzantine Emperor Ioustinianos. Visitors here should also try to visit the highly interesting Archaeological Museum and the Venetian castle.
One of the most popular destination on Paros for travellers is the charming region of Naousa, which is located 10km north of Parikia. The beautiful port with the small colourful fishing boats creates a charming scenery, and one that is ideal for relaxing holidays by the sea. There is also very interesting entertainment and nightlife here.
The beautiful beaches of Kolimbithres and Santa Maria are amongst the most popular on this part of the island, and during the hot summer months, the cool refreshing blue water of the Aegean is the perfect escape from the heat.
The landscape here is also very unique and something that you will not see anywhere else. The smooth rocks form a setting as though from another world. Some of the other beaches on Paros such as Pounda, which is opposite Antiparos, and Chrisi Akti are suitable for a variety of water sports, especially wind surfing and kite surfing.
Over the recent years, this part of Paros has been highly developed, creating resorts that allow visitors to make the most of taking part in a choice of these fun filled sports. Each year, Chrisi Akti is host to the races of the Windsurfing World Championship.
Paros has a wonderful variety of interesting and beautiful villages, where you can find a great selection of accommodation and perfect beaches for swimming and relaxation. Other more traditional mainland villages such as Marpisa and Marathi, with their tradition colours are very beautiful.
During the Easter period, there is a recreation of the Holy suffering and the crucifixion. For the resurrections, there is a stunning display of fireworks that you will never forget.

Paros has boat connections with the ports of Pireaus and Rafina in Athens as well as other islands in the Cyclades. There is also air connections with Athens and during the summer season, the airport on the island caters for charter flights from other European cities.
