Greece isn't just about relaxing on one of the many beautiful beaches, visiting the fascinating archaeological sites and museums, or indulging in the delicious food. There are loads of great activities and sports that you can enjoy during your holidays to Greece.
The first thing to understand about travelling to Greece is that it can be done anytime of the year. Though most travelers will head to Greece during the summer months, it is actually a beautiful place to visit all year round.
As well as air travel, Greece is accessable by various other forms of transport such as car, bus, train and sea. Once in Greece, the easiest way of travelling around is by car. There are car rental offices all over Greece as well as at popular airports and ports.
During the winter months, there are a number of top quality ski centers and resorts operating all over the country where you can enjoy ski, snowboarding and other winter sports. The winter landscape of Greece is extremely beautiful with the snow capped mountains and is a totally different scene when compared to the blue skies and sun-kissed beaches of the summer.
In the summer period you can head to the beautiful beaches and enjoy swimming and a variety of watersports such as jet ski, wind and kite surfing and lots of other fun. You can also go sailing around the Greek islands and enjoy a relaxing holiday onboard a sail boat, as you peaceful cruise from one lovely destination to another. There is nothing quite like a sailing holiday to fully appreciate the beauty and magic of the Greek islands.
The spring and autumn months are ideal for a variety of outdoor sports and activities in Greece, as during the summer months, the temperatures can get pretty high and limit the activities you can take part in outside. Some popular activities include trekking and hiking, where you will find a wide range of lovely trails that can take you one wonderful walks around the countryside and rural areas, away from the noise and crowds of the cities.
Being a very mountainous country, Greece is ideal for activities such as climbing and canyoning, where you can head off to some stunning locations in the country and enjoy the sports you love in totally new environments. You can also go kayaking and canoeing around the coastline of various islands, as well as some of the famous rivers in the mainland such as the Nestos and Pineios rivers.

Whether you are an aspiring writer or artist, or would simply like to learn about Greek cooking, there are a number of great workshops where you can be creative and learn new skills.
